Renewing a Trade Mark

A registered Community Trade Mark is valid for ten years from the date of filing of the application. It can be renewed indefinitely for further periods of ten years.

The process

Step 1.
No later than six months before the expiry of the registration European Trademark Organisation will inform you that your registered trademark is about to expire. We enclose a form you can sign and return to us if you wish us to renew your trademark on your behalf. By signing and returning the enclosed form you automatically confirm, order and authorize European Trademark Organisation to renew your trade mark. You may also fill out a renewal form online. Online renewals are subject to 10% discount.

Step 2.
In order for us to successfully renew your trade mark a renewal fee and an administrative fee must be paid. Within 5 - 10 working days after we have received your signed order confirmation / authorisation / renewal form you will receive an invoice. Once the invoice is paid in total we will proceed with your application. In order for us to complete the renewal process without any additional charges the amount must be paid within the given period of time stated on the invoice.

Step 3.
Your trade mark is successfully renewed for another ten (10) years.

*If the invoice is not paid in additional period of six months. The late request for renewal must be submitted and the renewal fee plus a 25% surcharge must be paid within this grace period which starts from the last date of the month in which the trade mark was due for renewal.
*If any additional information will be required, European Trademark Organisation will contact you. In case of failure to submit additional required information within 10 working days can result incompletion or additional charges. In that case no refunds will be made.

If no request for renewal is submitted, or is submitted after expiry of the grace period, you will be informed the writing that your trademark been cancelled and removed from the Register.
